Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays All,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are looking forward to celebrating the birth of Christ this December 25. Let me see... where did I leave off. Oh yeah....

Early November we went up to Wisconsin and visited my parents. Everyone had a wonderful time. The kids got spoiled and we took a much needed "Semi-Vacation". My sister, Tamara, and her kids were able to accompany us on the trip. The grandparents were happy to have a house full. Check the link for pics.

We returned the next week a couple days before my surgery. I was one of the idiots you probably saw on the news in line for a PS3. Yes, I was successful. I fought off a crowd of 400 to be one of the 130 that got one. I ended up getting a couple other minor items, also. (LCD & surround sound). After sleeping outside for 2 nights in a row... I now have a greater appreciation for the homeless in the Chicago area. (I am also thankful I am not one of them)

I left Best Buy went home to shower and went to my vasectomy appointment. Unfortunately, the doctor said I could only sit and play PS3 for the next week or so. Unwilling, I accepted his orders. I am officially back to 100% and doing quite well. FYI: The procedure is not that bad for those who may need one in the future

Thanksgiving was spent at my sisters' house. I ate entirely too much and worked off the extra weight playing basketball.... on PS3.

Other notable events: We attended Jimmy's Birthday party - Saw the movie "DeJavu" (Denzel Washington) - Currently in the process of remodeling the bedrooms & house (Pics up soon) - Attended Jose's birthday "Tamale Dinner"

As usual, pictures tell a better story. I have added a few more links for your viewing pleasure. Don't forget you can access previous posts in the archive link (Top Left) for any previous posts that you missed.

Happy Holidays!

Living Legend

Another week has come and gone.... go figure. However, I recently had the opportunity to celebrate with a living legend aka "Jon L". He had another birthday this past week. At his age we try to ignore the number and just be happy for him. The young bucks, such as myself, still enjoy hearing that low number announced.

Anyway, we made an appearance at Club Wet in downtown Chicago. It was completely ridiculous and EVERYONE lost a few brain cells that evening. Patron and bubbly was flowing the entire night and into the morning. Fortunately, we all survived.... some with massive hangovers... but still breathing.

There were many guest appearances and I was impressed by the turnout. I could ramble on about the evening, but pictures tell a thousand stories. Check them out in the picture link section.

I am currently up in Wisconsin with my parents they are spoiling the grandkids..... pics will be up soon.

What is the Point?

I guess my first thought would be what is the point of this website. After thinking long and hard about the many family members and friends that I have, I thought this was a good way to keep the lines of communication open. At the very least, you all will have a small insight to the "Art of Living" that I practice. In the near future, I would hope the frequent updates will spark some much needed rekindling of communication. Life is flying by at an unbelievable speed and so many things are happening that I sometimes just get caught in the everyday grind. The next thing I know I have taken a deep breath and awakened 2 months later... and wonder what has happened. You all know that I am relentless and passionate with anything I do, so these things may not surprise you. Regardless of the tasks at hand, you all are in my thoughts and prayers as the days go by. I am hoping that this website will be a secret passage way onto the road I am traveling. Feel free to sneak in and grab my attention whenever you need. I plan on checking posts and responding to any feedback as soon as I can. Check out the links(Bottom Left) for viewing pictures and recent events. The blog archive (Top Left) allows you to link straight to posts that you want to see.

Halloween 2006

Halloween has come and gone, but still lots of fun.

We went to Jose & Brenda's Halloween party. Gabriel went as a pumpkin. Karyn was a .....?? ok maybe it was a Toga Girl. Well, you can check the pics and figure it out for yourself. I claimed to be a poker player....

Halloween night, I dressed up as spiderman and we took the kids trick or treating. We went along with the "The Flinstones" aka The Sharkeys. Kamryn the bumble bee and Elvin IV was Batman. Nobody was worried about robbers with all the superheros around.

Check out the pics in the links to your left.

Update: New Job

Well, I guess I need to fill everyone in on my new job. Some may have heard through the grapevine, but not the horses' mouth.

I left my corporate job in March of 2006. I was living in Peoria, IL and I really was not happy there. I just felt out of place away from family, friends, and the life I am accustom to. To put icing on the cake, I also didn't feel like I was being challenged to my liking. For anyone who knows me, I thrive on fierce competition and like to be put to the test. I was slowly falling into the daily rut of going and coming from a 9-5. I just wasn't feeling it. I literally woke up one morning and decided to quit. Karyn flipped as you all could have expected not because I just quit, but I decided to play poker for a living. Here I am with a wife and kids and decide to quit my job. I actually left and went to the Chicago area and lived out of the casino hotel for a week or so. Karyn decided that she married me for a reason and came up there and said "She was going to stick by my side and support me." We now live in a house in Downers Grove, IL.

Since March I have won 3 small/medium size tournaments. I have been at 15-20 final tables. I also recently placed 5th in the Heartland Poker Tour main event, which will be on the Comcast Sports Network in Feb 07. I work approx 4 days/week and there is nothing like being Self-Employed! lol....

Feel free to check out the Heartland pictures in the links on the left hand column and comment/reply.

New Addition

October 21, 2006 at 3:20 pm - Gabriel Elvin Simpson was born.

He weighed in at 9lbs 1oz. and both mother and baby are doing well. Gabriel is living the good life. He constantly eats, sleeps, and fills up diapers that others have to change. Living care free.... Must Be Nice. Gabriel had a ton of hair and is darker than the other 2 rugrats. As you can see with the middle name... we have once again abused our right as parents. However, we didn't want him to have a complex later in life. I couldn't take it to the level of George Foreman... but he still has a name sake.

For all those who are wondering... yes this is our 3rd and FINAL child. We thought about a basketball team, but they have 3 on 3 tournaments in Chicago and we have a full squad.
I am a little nervous right now. I go in on Nov. 17, 2006 for the dreaded slice "Vasectomy". I guess it only takes 30 minutes and you recover within a week. None the less, I am not looking forward to it.

Feel free to post comments/replies or check out the pics in the link on the left hand column.

Thanks!
